Concrete Repair Services in the Greater Little Rock Area
Is Your Driveway, Patio or Sidewalk Cracked or Uneven? We Can Help
When you have a new concrete slab, it looks clean, fresh and level. While some weathering with age is to be expected, when the concrete begins to crack and become uneven, you have two options. You either get concrete repair or tear the slab out and start again.
At Airlift, we don’t have “concrete experts” in our name for nothing. We have extensive experience repairing everything from sidewalk slabs to grain bin foundation slabs. Contact us for a Free Estimate.
Why Concrete Repair is Your Best Option
Replacing concrete is something you only want to do when necessary. Why? Two main reasons.
- Expense: Pouring a new concrete slab is generally much more expensive than concrete repair. Concrete repairs that attack the root of the problem rather than just giving a cosmetic fix can greatly extend the lifetime of your slab, saving you money.
- Inconvenience: Pouring a new concrete slab is a time-consuming process. First, the old slab must be torn out and removed. Then the site must be prepared for pouring the new slab. Even after the slab is poured, you have to wait for it to fully dry. That is a lot of time that you won’t be able to use the area.
Our Concrete Repair Process
The cause of many major concrete problems is the soil beneath it. If, either because of improper compaction, active soils, or erosion, the soil can no longer support the weight of the concrete slab, it will start to settle.
And when concrete slabs settle, they rarely do so evenly. Some smaller ones might tilt, but most will crack, with elevation difference on the sides of the crack, making them both extra noticeable and tripping hazards.
That is where our concrete leveling process comes in. We inject expanding polyurethane foam beneath the slab, hydraulically raising it back to level while simultaneously compacting the surrounding soil. This is our process:
- Inspect the slab and determine where the foam needs to be injected.
- Drill dime-sized holes in the slab at the points where the injections go.
- Inject the foam. Our experienced technicians will monitor the process to ensure a precise lift.
- Clean up any excess foam and patch the injection holes.
The lifting process will remove the elevation differences on either side of the crack. It also removes the settling pressure, stopping it from causing new cracks to form.
Benefits to Concrete Repair from Airlift
- Price: As stated earlier, replacing concrete is a big, costly headache. Concrete repair through foam leveling is the less expensive option.
- Convenience: Residential concrete lifting jobs are rarely excessively time consuming. And unlike new concrete, which needs time to set, our polyurethane foam cures in about 15 minutes. By the time we have all the equipment loaded back in the truck, you will basically be ready to use your concrete.
- Invasiveness: The only “damage” done to the current slab are the dime-size holes used for the injection, which are easily filled at the end. This is especially important if the slab in question is something like a garage floor.
- Long-Lasting Results: Unlike mudjacking, neither water nor chemicals will break down the polyurethane foam. It is a long-lasting solution that neither adds significant weight to your soil nor will break down underground into undesirable components.
Where Can This Polyurethane Concrete Repair Be Used?
While this repair method can be used on anything from the aforementioned grain bins to airport runways, some of the most common uses are:
- Driveways
- Sidewalks
- Porches
- Patios
- Pool Decks
- Air Conditioner Pads
- Garage Foundations
